As implemented today, sector initiatives vary in many respects including: industry focus, clients served, geographical concentration and strategies used. Perhaps the best way, then, to develop a more complete understanding of the sectoral employment development concept, is to read accounts of participants who’ve benefited from the approach, employers who’ve partnered with initiatives, and programs that use different strategies.

Although Renee McGhee had tried short-term training programs in the past, it wasn’t until she entered Project QUEST in San Antonio, Texas that she acquired the skills needed to land a job offering good wages and a promising career path.
